Key Points 73 year old lady with co-morbidities and housebound. Suffering with bilateral oedema and lymphorrhoea and one leg also ulcerated. Flivasorb applied with Actico. After first day no strike through onto bandages and the Flivasorb had locked away all the fluid.
Title The use of Flivasorb in a highly exuding wound Download File
Author Annette Dee and Lyndsey Dalby
Publication Poster presentation at Wounds UK Conference, Harrogate - November 2009
Key Points 90 yr old lady with circumferential extensive recurring leg ulcer of mixed aetiology. Previous wound swab indicated pseudomonas and heavy haemolytic Strep G, later developed cellulitis. Initially dressings being changed twice daily and strikethrough apparent within few hours of dressing change.
Title A polyacrylate superabsorber inhibits the formation of ROS/RNS in vitro Download File
Author Wiegand C¹, Abel M², Ruth P², Hipler C¹
Publication Poster presentation at Wounds UK Conference, Harrogate - November 2009
Key Points Chronic wound exudate contains elevated levels of reactive oxygen and nitrogen species (ROS/RNS), perpetuating the inflammatory phase and resulting in severe tissue damage. In vitro test to analyse the antioxidant potential of Flivasorb.
